Pavithra Jaidev
Migration Lawyer
EDUCATION
I completed a Bachelor of Laws and Business Administration at JGLS, India (Graduated within the top 1% with Distinction; Savitri Jindal Student Scholar; Awarded Distinguished Alumni Award in 2019)
Then in 2020, I completed a Master of Laws at UNSW, Aus (UNSW Future of Change Scholar; UNSW Post Graduate Academic Excellence Scholar) and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law, Aus
Afterwards, in 2022 I completed an MBA + Master of Global Project Management from Torrens University, Aus (Laureate Australia Business Merit Scholar)
Naturally, I am the kind of person who likes to help people in need, and it was this attitude that helped me realize in Year 8 that I wanted to study law and become the type of lawyer who would stand up and fight for people's rights.
PROFESSIONAL LIFE
I have been working in the immigration field for about 3 years now and I absolutely love my job.
I like helping people achieve their GREAT AUSTRALIAN DREAM each day because it helps me wake up with purpose and it motivates me to constantly do better at my job.
There is also a little backstory to this, during my Master's course I actually specialized in Dispute Resolution and 2 other areas of law, and I wanted to become a Mediator-Negotiator for a Corporate Law firm. But down the line, during my time in Australia, my plans changed because I realised the immigration processes here are complex and I didn't have the information I needed to help myself with my own migration journey, let alone help anybody else!
So, I took it upon myself to venture out and understand the Australian Immigration Laws and Regulations to not only help myself but to also help others who were dealing with similar circumstances. Since then I have stayed in this field because there is just so much to learn and no matter how much you do or read it is never enough, there is always more to learn and explore.
Also, someone once actually suggested to me that I should become a Generalist Lawyer and do a little bit of everything, just to be in a safe position financially, but I would rather be a 'Master of one trade (that I really enjoy) than be a Jack of all trades (and end up enjoying none).'
Apart from this, one fun - fact I am admitted to practice as a Lawyer in Australia and New Zealand, and I am looking forward to being admitted in India as well, whereby I'll be able to practice law in 3 different jurisdictions.
As far as achievements are concerned, I don't have one but many, each client that I have helped in this short journey of mine is one big achievement. Each client for me is either a Trophy or a Badge of Honour and I am glad I got to and continue to get to work with them.
Hobbies
I love to sing; at some point, I wrote my own songs as well (though I have stopped now).
I like reading fiction, horror, thriller, and self-help books.
I love watching movies.
I like cooking and I am a foodie so I love to try dishes from different cuisines.
Also, I am an old soul, so I like exploring different scenic places, going to museums, art shows, talk shows, basically everything that involves lots of travelling and exploring new places.
Finally, I love being creative and I am a bit of an adrenaline junkie as well, and in this regard, I have a small bucket list of all the things I would like to do in my life and one day I hope to tick off as many boxes as I possibly can.Languages

What Motivates you?
I am basically motivated by three things:
- The fact that I wake up every single day to help someone realize one of their most cherished dreams, which is to help them move one step closer to calling Australia home;
- During the day when I overcome an obstacle at work, it gives me a great sense of accomplishment and it motivates me to do better
- At the end of the day, by the time I leave work, I know I have made a difference in at least one person's life and that feeling right there is my biggest motivator.
